Here are some of the beautiful people I met during my solo trip to Sri Lanka. Each person on here made my stay in Sri Lanka special.
Fatema
She was very happy spending time with her dad. I met them at the beach in Weligama. The dad works in Saudi the whole year and only comes back home for a little visit.
Khomari Ganrsevena + Podymanik Verakon
These two beautiful ladies were the hosts in the treehouse I stayed in in Ella. They were very sweet and caring. They knew bits of Arabic too and it was fun having a conversation with them. They made me promise to bring my future husband *who doesn't exist yet* for a honeymoon in the same place lol.
Nawin Chinthana
I sat next to Nawian on the train to Kandy. It turns out he is a train master and knew everything there is to know about the best views from the train. He also gave me great advice on how to find my next destination.
Barty
When my train friend Nawin left, Barty took the role of showing me the rest of the interesting spots and the waterfalls from the train
The Ticket Master
It was too crazy to ask for his name, but he was awesome! Him and the rest of the children on that bus ride were very sweet and entertaining.
Darnia + Angela
Those two girls were also part of my fun bus ride. They were really shy at first and kept giggling. Their English was good and they tried to hold a conversation. It was so cute how they pulled out their school books to show me!
The Tea Expert
This beautiful lady was super sweet and told me all I needed to know about tea at the Heritance Tea Factory. She spent her life in the tea fields and now she is an expert and a trainer.
Bjlaxman Sourasina
He was the train police and came sat next to me for a part of the journey. He is a very proud father and told me all about his two daughters and their education.
Sleep Cheap Hostel Owner
I actually don't know if he is the owner or not, but he was a good host. He even picked up fresh avocados for me and they were AMAZING!
Tea Museum Tour Guide
That lady was just really sweet. She told me about the tea museum and showed me around. We didn't really talk much outside of tea, but her smile was gorgeous.
Tea Factory Tour Guide
My journey of tea in Sri Lanka was very elaborate and this lovely lady showed me around the tea factory. I enjoyed my time the most there.
Lady in red
This lovely lady was one of the staff in the tea factory and the light and the composition were just perfect. She was sweet and agreed that I take the photo.
Niwan
He was my tuk tuk driver in Kandy. The hostel I stayed in recommended him and he ended up taking me everywhere in the city. He had a notebook filled with comments from happy customers in all sort of languages. I even wrote in it in Arabic.
Corn & Coconut Man
This man has a stand on the side of the road selling king coconut and grilled corn. He didn't speak English so we didn't have a conversation, but he seemed cool.
Grandmama
That's how she introduced herself to me. I was taking a photo on the side of the road and she came over selling goods. It was so funny how she gave me the price in the Saudi currency knowing exactly where I am from. I couldn't say no and she even gave me a little braclet as a gift.
It was such a pleasure meeting the locals and speaking to them. I wish I spoke to them more and asked for their stories. They all showed me kindness and added to the experience.
What was one of the memorable conversations you had with a local on a trip?
